I remember walking around the outside of my house one day. I found a barn that I didn’t even know existed about 5 minutes away and I looked over to the sunset. I was on the dead end of a street. It was really hot and the pavement turned to liquid in the horizon. I liked the heat and the solitude of exploring alone that day.
Sometimes what we believe we want so badly to survive, we discover that it’s not at all what we really wanted at all…

Normandy Trees

I was carrying a fat, small pine cone with me that I thought was really cute.
It was dripping sap and I had no idea. I had sap all in my pocket and managed to get it on my camera lens… That’s what caused that odd sun flare. Did you know that trees grow with the wind? The twists and turns you see are the trees growing in the direction of the blowing winds.
I never really had the chance to be an angsty teenager. I was forced to grow up too fast. I don’t know if this was an advantage or neurotically damaging.
I remember taking this picture a few years ago. I was in the floor surrounded by red and yellow roses with my camera holding a flashlight. I had taken a lot of the roses apart to save the petals. I was having fun taking pictures of roses, something many people have done a billion times over (this isn’t exactly the pinnacle of original but it was a start.) I like this picture but when I see it, all I can think of is when my dad stormed in my room and started kicking them to the side. “This is what you’re doing? Wasting my things! Disrespecting everything.” I had no idea this was coming, I could only sit there as he tore up the things in my room.
